Bob Sanchez is a novelist and retired technical writer living in Las Cruces, NM. The Massachusetts native is the author of When Pigs Fly, a crime caper based in the Southwest. He encourages members to visit http://www.bobsanchez.com to read reviews as well as the first chapter of his novel.
Signed copies of his book will be available at the meeting for $15 which is 20% of the list price.
Project for 2008
We will be our own anthology in 2008 as a Writer's League project. We will go through the the entire process: selection of a theme, assignment of jobs, submissions, acceptance and rejections, editing, cover art selection, formatting, printing, and marketing. The anthology will not have a specific theme.
MEMBER'S SHOWCASE
As it Should Be
By Karolina Blaha-Black
Sharp needles piercing the carpet clouds
Slowly but surely
Green marbles darting here and there
following and eight-legged trail
on the endless white planes of the wall.
Oh! How the pink meets the white of the milk
eager, divine.
Then my bed will be your throne
each of your silver hairs
fell to the Earth just a minute ago.
Your vibrations are music to my ears
covering my heart
with fuzzy pink plush.
Cat- I love you.

Our Song
by Joni Latham
Waves drum the shore
Overgrown and primitive.
Breezes strum the reeds
Thin and yielding.
Earth's children gather
On water, air, and soil
To dance to her music
To sing her song.
A song of wisdom
Of times forgotten.
A song of hope
Of times to come.
The song is a mother's gift.
A gift to all her children.
When confusion reigns,
It will soothe and comfort.
In times of uncertainty,
It will teach and counsel.
Many hear but do not listen.
It is ours, our mother's gift.
A song of wisdom
Of times forgotten.
A song of hope
Of times to come.
To submit a member poem (under 125 lines), short story (under words 1500 words), or essay (under words 1500 words), send to joni1957@verizon.net .
