GUEST SPEAKER
After starting out in science fiction and fantasy, Lillian Stewart Carl is now writing contemporary novels blending mystery, romance, and fantasy, along with short mystery and fantasy stories. Her work often includes paranormal themes. It always features plots based on history and archaeology.
Lillian's most recent novel (lucky thirteen) is The Murder Hole, second book in the JeanFairbairn/Alasdair Cameron series. The first book, The Secret Portrait, went into a third printing within twomonths of release and is now available in paperback. The third book, The Burning Glass, will be published inSeptember of 2007.
She has had twenty-five short stories published, including three reprinted in World's Finest Crime and Mystery Stories III and IV and VI. Many of her stories are available in a collection titled Along the Rim of Time. Another group will be reprinted in a collection titled Around the Circle of Time in the spring of 2007.
Most of her older novels and stories are are available in electronic form from www.fictionwise.com.
Lillian has lived for many years in North Texas, in a book-lined cloister cleverly disguised as a tract house. She is a member of The Author's Guild, Novelists Inc., Science Fiction Writers of America, and Sisters in Crime. Her web site is http://www.lillianstewartcarl.com .
Thinking about these issues and asking these types of questions should
help you become knowledgeable about the differences between ebook publishers.
You should also find out if the publisher prefers certain genres over
others. For example, if the publisher only publishes fantasy and science
fiction, then find out how active it is in the fantasy/sf community. Does it
have booths at cons? Does it send people to the conferences? As you network
with other writers and do your own research, you will also probably develop
some needs and questions of your own. After putting in some solid research
time, you should be able to choose an epublisher with confidence.
